Both, Cambodia & Thailand have highly corrupted government, and inactive citizens who don’t challenge their government to be more accountable. Our project brings together outstanding youths from the 2 nations to exchange the understanding of governance issues and build their leadership to take lead in engaging community to demand for good governance in the 2 countries.

According to the Transparency International Corruption Index 2014 has shown that Cambodia is the most corrupted country in ASEAN.

The corruption rate of Cambodia and Thailand have fallen down while the corruption rate of the other member is better compared to corruption index 2013.

WHO WILL BENEFIT?
30 Cambodian and Thai youth who are selected to join in GenY Leaders Camping will directly get the benefit from this project since they are the main role of the project. During the program we also give a chance to any other youth from both counties, who are interesting in volunteerism. All participants will be trained about doing survey and implement it. 30 outstanding university students from Cambodia and Thailand who will receive the intensive leadership trainings and lead their projects to engage the community and demand for good governance. 350 university students and 300 people living in the community that the leadership training and youth-led initiatives take place. The local governors of the community in Cambodia and Thailand whom will be demanded by their people to provide better public services and good governance.
OBJECTIVES
According to the corruption index 2014, Cambodia is the most corrupted country in ASEAN. In just one year, Cambodia had fallen from 157 to 160, highly corrupt and Thailand has fallen from 88 to 102. As the Cambodian and Thailand youth, we need to take an action in fighting corruption by establishment GenY Leaders Xchange 4 Actions, which they are encouraged to raise awareness of Corruption. They will be trained to be a young leader and support to do a campaign, do a survey and lead any projects related to corruption, transparency and integrity.
Measureable Results
- Phase1: 15 Cambodian youths & 15 Thai increase knowledge & leadership capacity through 7 DAYS LEADERSHIP PROGRAM and practice leading forum. 350 university students, 100 high schooler in the Cambodia will hear from the minister of education about the higher education reform in Cambodia lately.
- Phase2: 100 youth in Thailand and 100 other youths in Cambodia are engaged through projects initiated by the 15 Cambodians and 15 Thai in 6 different project. 6 team members of GenY Leaders Xchange 4 Actions will coordinate those 6 projects.
- Phase3: 15 Cambodian youths and 15 Thai youths will meet again in Thailand after run the small projects in their own country. Those 30 youths will learn about soft skill development and go to Thai governance institutional field trip. during the 6 days ADVANCED LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (in Thailand)
EXPECTATION
By implementing our project, we strongly believe that we will successfully achieve by the following goals. Participants from Cambodia and Thailand will have chance to spread their concerns about corruption and start taking actions in fighting it. After 7 days of training and implement, we believe that youth will change themselves and their concepts toward corruption. They know the bad impacts of corruption, hate it and start fight it independently. By knowing their potentials in country development, they will be strong and brave to report any corruption cases. They will become a young leader after attending our programme with varies potential sessions. They will be able to run their own projects to raise awareness of corruption, solve social problem. In short, we are not only achieve the goals by qualifying participants but we also achieve much outcomes by giving chance for them to take action and spread their understanding toward corruption issue to people in the community through our special programme GenY LEADERS XCHANGE 4 ACTIONS”.
